Tisha Harman, Senior Partner

Tisha Harman—A Center For Children & Family Law in Orange, CA

Tisha Lene Harman is a senior partner at A Center For Children & Family Law, Inc. For the past 21 years Tisha has dedicated her legal career to minor representation, child custody, parentage, A.R.T. law (surrogacy/egg donation/sperm donation), step parent adoption and adoption litigation. Tisha is well respected in the legal community by both her colleagues and members of the bench. Tisha has been named a Super Lawyer, was named a Top Attorney by O.C. Metro magazine, and holds a “10 – Superb” rating by AVVO. Earlier in her career she was named a “Rising Star”. Beyond these awards of distinction, Tisha's greatest career pride comes from the compliments she receives from her clients. Tisha is dedicated to each case and each client and at any consultation or throughout the case, will give her honest opinion and expectation regarding a case even if it's not what the client wants to hear.

In 1995, Tisha and her law partner, Sheryl Edgar, formed A Center For Children & Family Law, Inc. with the goal of forming a boutique law firm that focuses on families, is well prepared for court, is versed in the law, sets realistic expectations, and who present with true professionalism and client dedication.

While these attributes may be assumed, Tisha and Sheryl found out soon after beginning their legal career that these qualities are a rare combination. It was upon this realization, they formed their firm with goal of being recognized in the legal community as lawyers of distinction.


Tisha and Sheryl recognize the extreme stress and often confusion that faces any client going through the legal process and will work closely and carefully with every client from the very young to the older adult, to answer questions, alleviate stress and most importantly represent them in court being fully prepare and dedicated to each case.


Tisha enjoys assisting clients in all aspects of a custody or divorce matter and makes every effort to resolve cases if possible without the need for litigation. Tisha attributes her writing skills to her time clerking at the 4th District Court of Appeal.


Tisha's dedication, experience and ability to work with children and adults in a professional manner has fostered recognition from many Superior Court Judges and Commissioners. For the past 24 years, the courts have relied on Tisha's professionalism, knowledge and expertise appointing her to represent children in highly contentious custody matters, and litigated adoption matters.


Tisha also finds great joy in the part of her practice she devotes to A.R.T. law. Tisha has worked in this area since law school and worked as a law clerk on the briefs for the matter of Johnson v. Calvert, a high profile surrogacy case.


Tisha is an experienced trial attorney at the Superior Court level and also has several published cases at the appellate level including In Re Michael H., In re Sarah S., and In re Ariel H.


Aside from the joy of her career, Tisha's greatest happiness in life is her family. Tisha has 2 children with her husband who is a Superior Court Judge. In her non work time Tisha is a theatre mom, a figure skating mom, chauffer, room mom, and Girl Scout leader who loves the outdoors, traveling, hiking, mountain biking, and dog sledding.

Sheryl Edgar, Retired

Sheryl Edgar—A Center For Children & Family Law in Orange, CA

Sheryl L .Edgar, a senior partner at A Center for Children & Family Law, Inc., is a licensed attorney in California and before the United States Supreme Court. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University at Fullerton and her Juris Doctorate degree from Western State University. Sheryl's practice is devoted to all areas of family law including dissolution, child custody, child support, spousal support, grandparent rights, paternity and property division.

Sheryl served as a law clerk to Commissioner Thomas H. Parrott and as an extern for presiding Justice David G. Sills of the Fourth Appellate District. Sheryl worked as a law clerk and later as an attorney for the Orange County law firm, Van Deusen, Youmans and Walmsley specializing in family and adoption law for three years until the fall of 1995. It was then that Sheryl shared a vision with her friend and later business partner, Tisha Harman that they could do much more for families and their community if they were in control of their own destiny.

In December of 1995, Sheryl and her law partner, Tisha Harman, left their former firm to start their own law firm formed A Center for Children & Family Law, Inc., with the goal of helping families through the most difficult times of their lives with compassion and understanding. Although many law firms in Southern California practiced in family law, primarily as divorce attorneys, there existed no law firm that focused on the children throughout the process and the families before and after legal representation. Sheryl and Tisha knew that with this forum, they could practice what they loved most about law; advocating for children and families.


As an advocate for survivors of domestic violence, Sheryl has volunteered many hours, speaking to women at Battered Women's Organizations, Shelters and Parole Departments and has established herself as champion for the victims and their children.


Sheryl's professional memberships include American Bar Association, Los Angeles County Bar, Orange County Bar, Association of Family and Conciliation Courts and National Association of Counsel for Children. Sheryl's combined experience, dedication and ability to work with children has gained recognition from many Superior Court Judges and Commissioners. For nearly twenty-one years, they have relied on her knowledge and expertise, appointing her to represent minor children in highly contentious matters. To date, Sheryl has represented over two thousand children and indigent biological parents in court appointed cases regarding contested custody, domestic violence, sexual/physical/emotional abuse, paternity, restraining orders and contempt cases.


While representing children is a focus in Sheryl's practice, she also represents many individuals and families in private cases seeking her assistance related to divorce, custody, paternity, grandparent rights, child and spousal support, and property division.


Sheryl, a mother of seven children, resides in South Orange County. The second eldest was a victim of a drunk driver her senior year at high school. Several of the children left the nest but several remain. She enjoys spending time with her wonderful husband, her family (including her granddaughter), snow skiing, water skiing, hiking, and playing volleyball

Loni Klein, Senior Associate Attorney

Loni Klein—A Center For Children & Family Law in Orange, CA

Loni Klein is a licensed attorney in California. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Riverside before receiving her Juris Doctorate Degree from Pepperdine University School of Law. Loni works in all areas of family law including custody, dissolutions, children's counsel, grandparent/ step-parent visitation, with a focus on termination of parental rights, step-parent and independent adoptions, guardianships, and surrogacy and ovum donation.


Loni has extensive experience assisting children and families through the legal process. Loni worked for Orange County law firms as a family law clerk, a legal assistant and an investigator in children's cases before starting her career as an Attorney with A Center for Children and Family Law in 2003. Loni has spent the last 13 years litigating family law, termination of parental rights and guardianship cases. Loni is a member of the Orange County Bar Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, National Association of Counsel for Children and Academy of California Adoption Attorneys/ Academy of California Family Formation Lawyers (ACAL/ACFFL).

Loni resides with her husband and their two sons in South Orange County. In her free time Loni enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, golfing, snowboarding and being outdoors.

Tracy Willis, Senior Associate Attorney

Tracy Willis—A Center For Children & Family Law in Orange, CA

Tracy Willis received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania. Tracy went on to receive her Juris Doctorate from Western State University College of Law where she was a member of Law Review and served on the Editorial Board. Tracy graduated Summa Cum Laude and earned the Marcia Blanchard Wilbur Memorial Award for outstanding female student in recognition of outstanding leadership and superior academic achievement from Western State University College of Law. Tracy has studied abroad in Hong Kong and Australia. Throughout law school Tracy worked for the Legal Aid Society of Orange County and had the privilege to serve as a legal research extern to Justice William F. Rylaarsdam of the 4th Appellate District Court.


Tracy is a Family Law Professor at California State University Long Beach and has served as an Adjunct Professor at Western State University College of Law. Tracy's bar membership includes the California State Bar, Local County Bar Associations and United States Federal District Court, Central District of California. Tracy practices in all areas of children and family law with a major focus on children's issues, child and spousal support, dissolutions, guardianships, termination of parental rights, custody matters and minor's counsel cases.

Tracy is a Southern California native. She enjoys outdoor activities such as running and volleyball which she played while at Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania. Tracy's favorite pastime is spending time with her family and friends.

Megan Segura, Associate Attorney

Megan Segura—A Center For Children & Family Law in Orange, CA

Megan Segura received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley with a double major in History and Mass Communications. She earned her Juris Doctorate at University of San Diego School of Law. She also took additional courses at Capital University School of Law in Columbus, Ohio in Adoption Law and Child Welfare.


Throughout her law school career, Megan focused her work on advocating for children and families. She interned at The Alliance for Children's Rights where she worked on the Adoptions Project assisting in foster care adoptions. Megan also worked for Dependency Legal Group of San Diego where she assisted in the representation of parents and minors in foster care cases. Megan aided self-represented individuals with family law matters while working for the Family Law Facilitator's Office at the San Diego family court.

Megan worked as a research assistant for the Children's Advocacy Institute at the University of San Diego. She was awarded the James A. D'Angelo Outstanding Child Advocate Award from the Children's Advocacy Institute.

Megan interned with A Center for Children and Family Law for the summer following her second year of law school. After graduating and passing the bar, Megan joined the team at A Center for Children and Family Law as an Associate Attorney. Megan practices in all areas of children and family law with a major focus on children's issues, minor's counsel cas es, custody matters, adoptions, guardianships, dissolutions, and mediations.

Megan spends her free time hiking, going to Disneyland, and spending time with her husband, family, and friends.
